It was a wonderful experience to transport ourselves from autumn city to a subtropical forest!
On the 2nd of November Reception and Year 1 pupils visited the subtropical greenhouse in the Botanical Garden.
Our students didn't just take a stroll in the forest but they had a quest to find the plants that don’t look like others. We looked for the fastest, the highest, the most fragrant, the most bloodthirsty plants. We’ve learned that bananas grow on the grass, bamboo may grow for one meter a day! We were impressed by California redwood, that can live for 1000 years. Also carnivorous plants like Sundew, Venus flycatcher, Darlingtonia.
